MISSION STATEMENT of PURPOSE

The Goal of the Character Council is to strengthen the citizens, their families,

and the community as a whole by encouraging excellence in character,

and thereby to become known as a County of Character.

THEREFORE:

THE COUNCIL WILL endeavor to gain support of the community leaders in modeling and promoting good character;

THE COUNCIL WILL learn how character is built into the lives of individuals and develop character initiatives that apply to each sector within the community;

THE COUNCIL WILL strive to establish a community that encourages, recognizes and rewards good character;

THE COUNCIL WILL emphasize character over achievement, since achievement with excellence, by its very nature, requires good character;

THE COUNCIL WILL evaluate its decisions and policies on the basis of whether they reward good character or promote bad character;

THE COUNCIL WILL assess all its activities on a regular basis to ensure it is making progress toward its goal of becoming a county known for the good character of its citizens.
