Dear Friend of Character,
An expression of “WOW!” is what can be said. Here we are again in a new year and we can only say, “Did the time ever past fast!” Making our days count, rather than counting our days, should be the theme of each of us, while using our days to spread moral character in whatever we set our minds to do, our mouths to say or our minds to think, and it should always be a priority. There's an old saying: “Time goes by when you’re having fun!” Surely 2007 was a fun year, with all the team work that was expressed with all the programs, activities and projects which your Character Council participated in. 2008 looks like a hum-dinger, so put a tune in your voice and get in line to take part in the grand march of character, of moral character, of good character, as we step to the rhythm of what is true and what is right. Yeah! For everything's great in 2008!!
Here is is a second reminder that the ALERT Unit 38 will be coming to our community with their arrival on Sunday evening, February 10, 2008. The young men created quite a stir in Gilchrist County when they came in February 2007. You missed a real treat if you were unable to participate, so make plans to assist in the preparation of another week. There are 257 lunch sandwiches to be made, lots of corn to be popped, and food to prepare, as well as loads of joy that comes from getting to know these young men from the ALERT Academy. If you can help in any way, please call Geneva Cornwell at #463-1473. It is an exciting time for all of us. The Unit comes to do community service work for widows, disabled veterans and disabled married couples. Since time is limited for the men, the number of homes which can be serviced is limited, also. Those to be serviced will be placed on a "first named, first served" basis. If you know someone, or a couple, who needs work done, please contact Council member, Diane Rondolet, at telephone
(352) 463-3157, by leaving that person's name and phone number so she can get further details.
A last reminder: If you plan to attend the annual, “Kick-off Breakfast” please call
(352)
463-1473 and make your reservation. Let us kick-off 2008 with a bang!!!
To assist you in your plans, please make a note
